- ALL UGG Australia® products are 100% Australian made, here at the UGG factory in Laverton North, Melbourne, that’s the UGG guarantee to you. UGG boots and slippers are made of high-grade Genuine Australian double-face merino, sourced sustainably from local farms and processed ecologically at UGG’s own Tannery, right here in Melbourne, Australia
- UGG Australia® luxury products are made with their premium hand-selected merino lambskins to ensure the highest quality boot is made for you. The merino lambskins for UGG Australia® boots are quality-checked for marks & scratches. All of UGG’s merino lambskins are natural and are produced in the LAST sheepskin footwear tannery in Australia. UGG is 100% Australian Made & Owned.
- Natural temperature regulation – Sheepskin is naturally thermostatic. In the Australian bush, sheep rely on their wool to stay cool in the heat and warm in the cold. The hollow structure of the wool fibres creates a natural air pocket that circulates air. This allows your feet to maintain a consistent temperature near the body’s natural 37°C, regardless of the weather outside. It’s the reason you can comfortably wear genuine Ugg Australia® boots in the middle of summer just as easily as in the depths of winter.
- Structural integrity – An Australian Twinface Sheepskin is world renowned for it’s thick suede and high density wool, similar to an A Grade leather, it provides structural support for footwear. 250 years of Australian farming has created this amazing footwear fibre. The common “ugg slump” is caused when international sheepskins are used, they are bred to be softer suede and less dense fibres, ideal for garments, not footwear.
- Breathability vs bacteria – Genuine twin-face sheepskin, however, is a biological marvel. It can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp. It wicks perspiration away from the skin and releases it into the air. By keeping the foot dry, genuine sheepskin prevents the damp, anaerobic environment where bacteria and fungi thrive. This is why genuine boots stay fresh, while synthetic versions often develop a permanent odour after just a few weeks of wear.
- Sustainability – When comparing environmental impact, the “breakdown period” marks a massive divide. Authentic Australian sheepskin is a biodegradable organic fiber that decomposes in as little as four to six months, returning nutrients to the soil. Conversely, synthetic boots are made from petroleum-based plastics like polyester that never truly biodegrade. Instead, they fragment into microplastics that persist in ecosystems for hundreds of years. Choosing natural sheepskin ensures your boots won’t leave a multi-century plastic legacy in a landfill.

What Size UGGs Do I Buy?
- We recommend you buy an UGG in the same AU (the equivalent of US) size as you wear in a sneaker
- If you are a half size go up ie. Women’s 7.5 buy 8.
- UGG boots are thicker and will feel tight at first and be hard to get on the first couple of times
- Please note that UGG use authentic Twinface Australian Sheepskin and specifically source the thickest and strongest. This is very different to other brands, that get their sheepskin from tanneries outside Australia and are often less microns, shorter and thinner suede. Please note your UGGs should feel very tight in the beginning. The wool will flatten and the suede will stretch approximately ½ to a whole size. In about 10 wears, they become like custom made boots, specific to the shape of your foot.
- For the first few times you put them on, please make sure you are sitting down. Slide the boot on, then put it on the ground, hold the back and step your foot into the boot.
- When standing up, and pushing your foot to the back of the heel, the toes should be touching or about half a centimetre from the front.
- Please note that sheepskin is a soft material and will feel like a slipper, rather than a fitted shoe. There will be some slip.
- If you are having any specific sizing or issues, please email us and we can advise you on the best UGG size for you.
